Our team meets regularly to seek God for the good of our people and the good of our city. These are some of the first priorities that guide our leadership as we make decisions. We're building this together.
We do not give into peer pressure. We practice patience to pray to God before we start projects.
We do not exploit people to build up our platform. We use our platform to build up people.
We do not leverage our credentials to impress people. We leverage Christlike character to inspire people.
We do not obsess over money. We obsess over the mission.
On January 1st, 2017, I took a step of faith and planted this church from scratch.
I was born in California, raised in Alabama, but was built for NYC. I was literally an orphan, but I'm now a child of God. I feel compassion for the people of NYC who have no one to love them. I started this church to offer a family to people who don't have a family.
I live in Chelsea, Manhattan. I love getting to know my neighbors here in NYC. I hope to see you around.
Love lives here,
Lead Disciple Maker, Cultivate Church

Mecca Ortiz has been with us since the beginning of Cultivate Church. She lives in Bushwick, Brooklyn and has three kids whom she loves very dearly. Mecca is able to love, relate with, and help people on the streets very effectively. This is influenced by the fact that she personally knows how to overcome the struggles of surviving on the streets.
Since we’ve gotten to know her, we noticed that she has a generous heart filled with compassion. She champions the hope of Jesus and loves to speak life over those who feel discouraged. She is very accepting, welcoming, and loving toward strangers. Many of them end up becoming instant friends with her.
She became our Initiatives Assistant to help us coordinate ways to help meet the pressing needs of people in our city. We are also training her to become our Initiatives Director. We are believing great things for her. We are on a mission to find needs and fill them—find hurts and heal them. She has been helping us with this mission since the very beginning.
